TEXAS-STYLE CROCKPOT

PULLED PORK RECIPE

Texas-style pulled pork is a delicious barbecue dish known for its sweet and tangy flavor and tender texture.

PREP TIME: 10 minutes

COOK TIME: times vary depending on crockpot setting: 5-6 hours if cooking on high; 10-12 hours if cooking on low

Servings: 6-8


INGREDIENTS

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 (4 pound) pork shoulder or pork butt
  • 1 cup barbeque sauce
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 extra large onion, chopped
  • 2 large cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Pour olive oil into the bottom of the crockpot. 
  2. Place pork roast into the crockpot; pour in all ingredients: barbeque sauce, vinegar, chicken broth, brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, onion, garlic, and thyme. 
  3. Cover and cook on high for 5-6 hours or high for 5 -6 hours until pork shreds easily with a fork.
  4. Shred the meat using two forks. Stir to combine with juices.
  5. Serve and enjoy!
